Destiny's Way sneak Preview Part I

Destiny hovered over the stove cooking up a big Sunday dinner for a few guest. Blasting through the surround sound was Fantasia's "Bittersweet." Destiny wasn't in love, at least she didn't think so. She was just caught up in the moment, didn't have many friends, and the ones she had were mostly males. As she dumped the broccoli in the pot, her phone rang. She paused to look at the unknown number. It rang three more times so she decided to pick up.

"It could be one of the guest," she thought. "Hello."

"Is Haze there," the unfamiliar voice asked.

"No, he isn't."

"This is Carolyn. It's important. I need to speak to him."

"Ok. I'll give him da message."

"Is everything ok."

"Yes. I'll have him call you," she said in hopes to get the female off the phone because the vibe wasn't right. She felt it in her soul.

Destiny hung up and continued dancing around the kitchen. Her phone rang two minutes later.

"Hello."

"Did you talk to Haze?"

"Ma'am. We just hung up. You haven't given me enough time to reach him."

"Well, this is important and you're burnin' because I'm burnin'."

"Excuse me but this is a business line and the information you're providing, is personal,"

"Well, it was business with me too til he burnt me."

"Well, evidently your business with him is different from my business with him and whatever you're goin' through, you should be speakin' to him about it, not me. Good-bye."

Destiny hung up a little disturbed. Her phone rang two seconds later.

"You're burnin' because he burnt me and he burnt you," Carolyn yelled.

"Nope, I'm sorry. I'm not sleeping with him so thanks for reaching out to me but you're becoming annoying and I'm asking you to stop calling this phone. It's for business purposes only."

Destiny hung up hoping that would be the last call from this deranged female. It wasn't. Carolyn called three more times with threats and promises until Destiny told her she would be receiving an court order if she continued to call her because it was now harassment.

Two hours later guest started to file in. Destiny was happy and Haze wasn't on her brain until her friend Tina asked where he was.

"Please. Don't mention him."

"Why girl. What happened?"

"You know it's always something with him."

"Tell me, girl."

"Some woman named Carolyn called my phone telling me he burnt her yadda yadda. This is why I don't give him da time of the day because I know he's a lyin' cheat. Every time he comes around, tryna convince me he's changed and don't have nobody, here comes da calls lettin' me know otherwise."

"You need to just give Brice or Olfie a chance. They are into the same business as you. Haze is nothin' but a headache, a liar, the list goes on. Looks is nothin', he's a scum bag."

"You know what burns me up, no matter how much Haze and I go through, I will never let anyone hurt him and this chick was heated because I wouldn't give up any information and he called once since she called but I haven't heard back from him and it makes me wonder. Is he embarrassed, upset or just don't give a hell?"

"Why are you worried about it? Let 'em go. The friendship, whatever it is. Just let 'em go Carolyn. You're a successful attorney. Brice is a Judge. Dats your man."

"I like him. He's nice but I don't know what I want right now. I'm good da way things are."

"He just don't have enough swag for you. That's it. I know. But he has something big, long and I'm sure it'll make you happy," she laughed.

"Girl, you're a mess. How do you know what he has in his pants? You tryna have him?"

"You're so nasty. I wasn't talking about his manhood. His money is big and long."

"So is mine. Don't try to sugar-coat it honey. You were talkin' about his manhood. I know you."

They laughed.

In comes Olfie with bags and boxes piled high.

Tina nudges Destiny.

"Somebody has a surprise for you."
